wooden and poly-chrome Santiago, 19th C. religious Santo in portable
shrine. Santiago, on his customary white horse, sits inside a
handpainted box (Nicho) with charming paint decoration. Mexico, Spanish
Colonial period c.1880-1900. Figure carved of wood, hand-crafted paper,
painted paste. Professional restoration to hat, horse's nose and two
ankles. Paint losses to Nicho, chipped paint. Wear consistent with age
and use. Charming and attractive.
