18th-19thC. French Barber Bowl,
French faience barber or
shaving bowl, hand-painted central blue floral motif with similar border
decoration, ca.1800-1850. These personal bowls were carried to the
village barber for grooming purposes, but were also used in medical and
dental applications, as most barbers practiced blood-letting, etc. as
well. Three small,very early chips to inside of lip at about six
o'clock, not very noticeable.
Measurement: 12 3/4 L x 11 x 3" H.
